As GE’s cardiovascular line of ultrasound systems, the GE Vivid lineup provides ultrasound services in a variety of cardiology applications such as Echo, Color Doppler, Transesophageal, and others. GE offers a range of products to fit the cardiovascular needs and applications at every budget level, from compact, lightweight, and portable to next-generation 4D technology. With so many options, it is best to learn the differences to determine which one is best for your needs.
GE Vivid Portables
Originally modeled after the time-tested GE Logiq e portable ultrasound system and even earlier, identical versions, GE’s current line of cardiac portables consists of GE Vivid e, GE Vivid i, GE Vivid q, and the latest GE Vivid IQ basic, premium, and 4D.
GE Vivid E
As the first portable cardiac ultrasound system from GE, released in 2006, the GE Vivid e is also lightweight at just slightly over 10 pounds but not limited in its abilities. It can tackle any cardiac, vascular, or abdominal needs with a quick system re-boot and battery recharge along with a 40 GB internal hard drive.
GE Vivid I
The GE Vivid I, released in 2008, builds on the many industry-leading features and technologies of the Vivid line with performance, quantitative analysis tools, and a range of applications. Useful in any clinical environment, the Vivid I performs comprehensive diagnostic exams and provides complete, real-time diagnostic results.
GE Vivid Q
Released alongside the Vivid I in 2008, the Vivid q has been updated and revised several times. With a streamlined workflow and a wide range of applications, the Vivid q produces excellent cardiac images and advanced qualifications. No bigger than a laptop and extremely lightweight, the 16 probes and compact size of the Vivid q offers exceptional ultrasound imaging directly to your patients.
GE Vivid IQ (Basic, Premium, 4D)
Replacing the Vivid q in 2016, the Vivid IQ comes in three models: the IQ basic with no matrix cardiac, the premium with matrix cardiac, and 4D with matrix cardiac and 4D TEE (Transesophageal) capabilities along with additional triple-transducer cart and software upgrade. Though compatible with the GE M5Sc-RS matrix sector cardiac probe, the user interface is more optimized with fewer buttons for faster workflow and easier clean-up.
GE Vivid Mid-Range Systems
As console-based systems with high-powered performance, GE’s mid-range Vivid ultrasound systems are targeted at cardiologists and other physicians with smaller practices who need a small-footprint system with big-footprint power. This line includes the Vivid Signature-Series and the Vivid T-Series.
GE Vivid S5
A combination of miniaturization and versatile diagnostic solutions, the GE Vivid S5 has impressive performance and excellent image quality. Its sleek, portable design is a console-based system with advanced functions, an innovative ergonomic design, and broad shared-service capabilities such as vascular, abdominal, pediatric/fetal, and OB, allowing you to keep the focus on your patients.
GE Vivid S6
At the higher end of the Signature-Series line, the only difference between the S6 and the S5 is that the Vivid S6 can run TEE (Transesophageal) ultrasound probes while the S5 cannot. Its ergonomic design and easy-to-use features take workflow and productivity to the next level. A wide range of applications, consistent image quality, innovative miniaturization, comprehensive connectivity options, and a range of advanced, automated tools make the Vivid S6 an exceptional cardiovascular and shared-service solution to help you meet the demands of your practice.
GE Vivid T8
Combining the established cardiac imaging capabilities of the GE Vivid systems along with the exceptional shared services performance of GE Logiq’s general imaging and radiology systems, this hybrid cardiovascular ultrasound system is reliable, rugged, and rich with features yet still affordable and convenient to use. In addition to a touchscreen and additional probe options, the T8 has the best the Logiq systems have to offer—LogiqView, a full line of compact transducers, and a full suite of cardiac probe options.
GE Vivid T9
The latest model in the Vivid T-Series, the T9, offers some of the best features of both the Vivid and the Logiq systems combined to create a one-value hybrid cardiovascular ultrasound system that is reliable and replete with features yet still affordable and simple to use. With more features than the Vivid T8, such as Cardiac IQ and Tricefy Inside, the T9 offers a bigger, clearer OLED monitor and the option for two or more probe ports.
GE Vivid S70/S70N
Combining the performance of the Vivid product line with the cSound powerful, software-based beamformer image reconstruction platform, the Vivid S70/S70N takes ultrasound to a whole new level by providing excellent image quality in cardiac along with shared service, all at an affordable price. As the most powerful mid-range ultrasound system in the Vivid family, the S70’s minuscule footprint makes it ideal for offices where space and mobility are priorities. However, it does not have the processing power of GE’s premium Vivid E95 and Vivid E90 4D cardiac ultrasound systems. The S70 functions well at any cardiologist practice at a more affordable price than other premium cardiac systems.
